Reasonably Priced Blog Headers
Aug 25th
I’ve just completed another blog header project for a regular client. I enjoy her taste, as it’s very similar to my own and it makes for a working relationship that really, well, works!
Here’s a looksee at her blog header for the coming month…
I’m also designing a sidebar button to match, which also denotes this bloggers location. We’ve decided to go with month related themes, and I will be producing a new header for her each month. When you do freelance graphic design work, to pick up this kind of regular work, is absolutely heaven sent. I particularly enjoy this kind of design work too, so hmmm, happy, I am. As Yoda would say.
Of course to pick up another 20 clients just like her, enabling me to not only daydream about the shiny new 24″ iMac I hope to purchase this year, but start to shop for great travel deals too!
Recession? What Recession? Roll on business!
If you are interested in having a blog header/web banners designed by me, please drop me an email, prices start very reasonably from ZAR 75 per item. For international folk, prices are based on the US $, and start from $10. Seriously reasonable folks! Paypal, AlertPay, and Moneybookers Accepted Gladly.

Blog Header Design: Interrupted Wanderlust
Jun 19th
I’m currently working on a design for a blog header, for the blog, “Interrupted Wanderlust“. The author, is actually a freelance writer, and mom to three gorgeous kids.
The brief naturally specified that her three gorgeous bubkins were included in some way, and requested that each kid be given ‘equal billing’ – which I thought was really sweet.
Here you can see how the header is developing.
I started with a cleaner artistic feel, with just two polaroid style photographs. The blue is taken from her blog template.
I moved on from here, to a more tactile looking header, a wooden feel background, and I added some parchment style paper, given that the author is a highly qualified freelance writer, and tucked the photos in here and there, a bit like a desk might be at home.
In this latest version, the blog owner requested a more ‘travel’ feel to the header, given the subject of her blog, and this is why the elements such as the passport, globe, compass and airline boarding pass have been added. I’m eagerly awaiting the latest feedback from the client, as I’m really enjoying this project.
Isn’t it wonderful when you can do what you love for a living?
Update: Client Loved it! Hurray!

Simple, Clean, Elegant Blog Headers
May 9th
Here is the last in the series of blog headers that I’ve been doing for a fellow blogger.
To recap, here is the progression of development…
We went with the basic idea of a navy blue, and orange, to fit in with her blogs current template. The instructions were to produce an 800×150px blog header that was clean, simple, not too girly, a bit edgey.

We headed off in a slightly more artistic vibe here with the paint splash, and a bolder title.

We decided to bring back the header to a less bold, slightly more feminine font, return to the orginal orange brief, and retain a sense of edginess by using a cosmic-type graphic in the background, adding depth to the header.

Because I like to throw out a ‘what if’ to my clients to expand their initial brief, and provide them with options, I developed this whilst busy also developing her specified brief. While it was well received, the ‘Bond Girls’ were deemed a tad too s3xy for this mom of three.

So we head back to the original navy and orange, and we introduce her tagline. However in this particular version, the web colours were a bit too pink, so I went and designed some more! I’m definitely doing the right job, because I actually like it when I get to carry on with a project.
So I scaled back completely, brought the header back to the navy, orange and black brief, and went for bold graphics on the left, with the clients font of choice on the right, and included the tagline.
At this stage it looks as though this blog header is the winner, although my personal opinion (which is irrelavant here, I know, but still) leans towards the one at the very top. Although I must say, I really like all of them, and would use various versions of these on my own blogs.

What do you guys think? Which one is your favourite?
